Insp?r Senior Living, Maplewood Senior Living’s new brand of world-class, urban senior living properties, is now hiring Transportation Coordinators (Drivers) for its new Insp?r Carnegie Hill property. Insp?r Carnegie Hill is located on the Upper East Side and stands 23 stories with 215 residential units. It offers assisted living, enhanced care, and memory care with a unique and innovative Integrated Care Model.

The Transportation Coordinator (Driver) Role: Transports residents in community owned vehicles in a safe, secure, and timely manner and provides an outstanding customer experience to residents and families to ensure a high level of satisfaction.  The Transportation Coordinator will also maintain the community vehicles and report any concerns to the People Experience Manager.

 

  • Transports residents to and from medical appointments, activities, and shopping errands using the community owned vehicle 

  • Reads the transportation schedule daily and assures scheduled appointments can be met 

  • Partners with People Experience Manager and other managers to schedule appointments for residents as needed 

  • Communicates effectively and timely if unable to make scheduled resident appointments 

  • Available for unscheduled transportation needs in an emergency 

  • Monitors resident activity and alerts staff when assistance is necessary to ensure resident safety 

  • Completes routine vehicle inspection checks and informs Program Director and/or Executive Director of any maintenance problems or safety issues that need to be addressed 

  • Ensures community vehicles are clean and tidy 

  • Is thoroughly familiar with fire, missing persons, and other emergency procedures 

  • Follows residence policy and procedures detailed in fire and disaster plans 

  • Participates in department meetings as scheduled

  •  Completes required monthly in-services

  • Follows emergency procedures as trained and instructed 

  • Understands safety practices and procedures including the safe operations of wheelchairs, lifts, and other assistive devices 

  • Refrains from using cellular phones while transporting residents except during emergency situations. Understands that texting is strictly prohibited while operating a community vehicle.  

  • Ensures residents are safely secured in community vehicles before operating the vehicle 

  • Carries out other duties as assigned. 

  Education/Experience/Licensure/Requirements: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent required  

  • NY Class F driver’s license with clean driving record required 

  • Experience driving in NYC 

  • Able to operate van lift 

  • Experience and passion in working with seniors  

  • Able to convey and understand information and ideas in English 

  • Able to perform tasks which may be physically demanding such as pushing, bending and lifting

  • Be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary  

  • Work well in stressful, high pressure situations and be able to maintain composure and objectivity 

  • Be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by residents and guests   

  • Able to maintain positive working relationships with residents, their families, peers and other staff members.  

  • Must be authorized to legally work in the United States.  Criminal background check required.
