Job Description Job Description Spruce Lake Ministries encourages persons from a variety of traditions to a deeper faith in God through Jesus Christ. In this peaceful setting in the heart of the Pocono Mountains in northeastern Pennsylvania, Spruce Lake and Pinebrook provide Christian church, family and corporate groups with lodging, meeting spaces and meals for their next event or retreat. Pinebrook also hosts day camps each summer. The Pool Manager (PM) is responsible for the direct supervision of the pool, boats, and lifeguards. The PM is responsible for the hiring and training of lifeguards (LGs) and the cleaning/maintenance of the pool area in consultation with the Pinebrook Director (PBD). Prerequisites: Growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ Must affirm, live, and model Spruce Lake mission, vision, statement of faith and core values. Conducts him/herself in a manner that is above reproach. Qualifications: Current American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguard Certification (or equivalent), including CPR for Professional Rescuer. This can be updated at our lifeguarding class in June. Demonstrate strong leadership, interpersonal and spiritual maturity. Must be at least twenty-one years of age. Prior lifeguarding experience. Certified as Red Cross Trainer (preferred) Physical Requirements: : Ability to meet and maintain physical skills and endurance required to pass the ARC lifeguard test. Essential Responsibilities: Pool Manager Collaborate with the PBD to screen, interview, and hire lifeguards. Meet regularly with the PBD to define strategies and set priorities. Develop and administer annual review of lifeguard manual and training protocols. Provide direct leadership for LGs: Provide in-service training for LGs. Coordinate LGs's work schedules and time off requests in coordination with other PB Managers. Provide ongoing feedback in LG weekly check-in meetings. Administer at least two formal performance reviews of LG team members. Mentor and encourage LGs toward spiritual maturity. Be a role model in word and action for the LG team. Provide lifeguard coverage as needed. Be fully aware of PB pool rules and policies and affect their implementation. Be fully aware of, and able to implement, the Emergency Action Plan (EAP). Review and follow-up on all incident/rescue reports, alerting PBD as necessary. Oversee daily and routine pool cleaning tasks, schedules, assignments and perform routine inspections to ensure quality guest experience. Communicate with the front desk any changes to pool or boat hours. Communicate with Facilities team as needed to resolve maintenance and/or safety issues. Order necessary lifeguard equipment, first-aid supplies, pool toys, etc. Other Responsibilities Attend weekly prayer meetings Attend Summer Leadership Meetings Duties as assigned by the PB Director. Actively support the overall needs and mission of Spruce Lake Ministries. Spruce Lake Ministries, Pinebrook or Spruce Lake, does not currently hire anyone who is not authorized to work in the US, nor are we able to sponsor international employees or volunteers.
