Cytotech / Cytogenetics Location: White Plains, NY Agency: Cynet Health Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Shift Information: 3 days x 12 hours Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Cytotechnologist Profession: Laboratory Specialty: Cytotechnology Duration: Varied Shift: Varied, as needed Hours per Shift: Not specified Experience: Minimum of 3 years screening gynecological and non-gynecological specimens and fine needle aspirations License: N.Y.S. license required Certifications: ASCP Registry and/or Certified Cytology School Degree, ThinPrep Certification Must-Have: Familiarity with the Bethesda system for Cytology reporting Description: Receives body material, fluids, exudate, and scrapings. Assists physicians with FNA procedures and collects specimens from patients. Examines and records classification of slides. Presents slides with unusual cytomorphology to the Pathologist for further examination. Maintains a record of screening workload performed. Performs other duties as assigned. Understands and adheres to performance standards, policies, and behaviors. Screens gynecological and non-gynecological cases on a daily basis and in a timely manner. Assists with preparation, staining, and coverslipping of cytology specimens as needed. Assists in Cytology Aspiration procedures that are scheduled. Signs out cases with the Pathologist according to schedule. Labels all Cytology stained slides, comparing name, number of slides, clinical information, and gross description against requisitions. Changes and cleans equipment and solutions in the Cytology Aspiration procedure tray. Keeps Cytology Aspiration procedure supplies stocked as needed. Maintains all records as per regulatory agency requirements. Maintains a Continuing Medical Education log. Participates in any other departmental activities as directed by leadership.
